The Boys’ Brigade: 140+ Years of Faithful Service.

Founded in 1883, 1st Glasgow are the original company of The Boys' Brigade, one of the biggest Christian Youth Organisations in the UK. We are committed to seeing lives of our boys enriched by supporting them and by providing opportunities to meet together and engage in a range of fun and developmental activities and experiences. Our leaders range from some who have very recently left school to those of us who have been around for a lot longer...the variety really helps us plan.

We moved to Kelvin West Parish Church in August 2024, and meet on Friday nights during term time in the Library and the Woodlands Hall.

Anchor Boys: P1 –P3 630 til 730.

Junior Section: P4 to P6. 630 til 800

Company Section: P7 to S6 730 til 930

We are always looking for new activities to keep everyone interested, and our boys have a great “have a go” attitude. The boys take part in competitions with other companies. We have a badge scheme that rewards effort and attitude, and they are presented at our annual inspection every May where we showcase achievements and skills. Most recently, the sense of togetherness and teamwork that have been essential since our move were complimented at our inspection.

Our big aim is to provide a fun, safe and engaging place for the boys. Activities around faith, sport, baking, problem solving and life skills are just some of the items on our programme. As the boys grow up, the challenges development and culminate each year in a Summer Camp for our boys from P7 upwards. For 50 years now we have been going to our campsite near Portavadie. This is where we really see the life skills and teamwork, as they compete for Best Tent, get stuck in setting the table and doing the dishes (we even manage to make the dish-washing fun...).
