New to Kelvin West?

You’re very welcome.

Whether you’ve been going to church all your life, haven’t been for years, or have never stepped inside a church before, you’re welcome at Kelvin West Parish Church.

We’re a community in the West End of Glasgow, seeking to follow Jesus and be a place where people can explore faith, ask questions, build friendships and discover what it means to live well together.

You don’t need to know anything about church before you come. You don’t need to have everything figured out. And you won’t be pressured to believe anything.

Come as you are.

What happens on a Sunday?

Our Sunday service is usually around an hour and includes music, Bible readings, prayers, a talk and time to reflect.

Some weeks are more traditional, while at other times our worship may look and feel a little different.

If you’re nervous about coming, don’t worry. There’s no special way you need to behave or dress. Just come along and someone will be happy to help you find your way around.

After the service, there’s usually an opportunity to stay for tea and coffee and chat with others.

You’re welcome to come on your own, with friends, or with your family.

Do I have to be a Christian?

No.

We’re a church, so Christian faith is at the heart of who we are, but you don’t have to already be a Christian to come along.

You might be curious about Christianity. You might have questions or doubts. You might believe but not have been to church for a long time. Or you might simply be looking for community and somewhere to belong.

All of those are good reasons to come.

We want Kelvin West to be a place where people can explore faith honestly, without pressure or pretending.

What if I don't know anyone?

That’s completely okay.

Walking into a new place where you don’t know anyone can feel daunting. We understand that.

When you arrive, there will be people around who can help you find your way around and answer any questions you have.

You don’t have to introduce yourself to everyone, and you don’t have to stay afterwards if you don’t want to.

Just come in, find a seat and see what you think.

What should I wear?

Whatever you normally wear!

There’s no dress code at Kelvin West. Some people dress smartly, others dress casually.

There’s no right or wrong way to come to church.

What about children and young people?

Children and young people are an important part of our church community.

We have activities and opportunities for children and young people to explore faith, build friendships and get involved.

If you’re visiting with children, please speak to someone when you arrive and we’ll help you find out what’s happening that week.

Kelvin West isn’t just about what happens on a Sunday.

Throughout the week there are opportunities to meet people, explore faith, enjoy a coffee, learn something new and get involved in the life of our community.

A place to belong

At the heart of Kelvin West is a simple hope:

that people would know they are welcome, valued and loved.

We believe church should be a place where people can ask difficult questions, discover community, encounter God and explore what following Jesus might mean for their lives.

You don’t need to have all the answers before you come.

Why not come and see for yourself?

You’re welcome at Kelvin West.
